In 2020, Marsden Jazz Festival, an internationally renowned musical festival held in my home village, was cancelled because of Covid-19. Rather than do nothing, the organisers decided to create an online festival and commissioned several musicians to perform in moorland locations around the village over summer and autumn. I was commissioned to create videos of those performances. Using four cameras, I was able to create the entire visual aesthetic for the festival, attempting to capture the interplay between the individual musicians and the stunning landscape.
Here are some of the videos we created. For the rest, head over here.
In 2021, I reworked the footage from the original shoots to create a multi-screen installation which played throughout the whole of the Jazz Festival when it returned to the village. You can see images from this Chronotope installation here.
