A series of thirty second video sequences of a river in the Argyll Forest Park, Scotland.
The footage was shot in standard definition video (720 x 576) at 2000 x digital zoom. On edit, the first sequence was then magnified by a further 2000%. Each following sequence was magnified to a lesser extent until the final sequence which was not magnified at all.
“Landscape film” is a form of technologically empowered and structured dialogue between an embodied perceiver and the landscape. By using magnified standard definition video it becomes possible to make that technological dialogue itself the subject matter of the film whilst the landscape, present throughout, is rendered unrecognisable.
